The replays in this folder are random samples of the Marathon tournament played during Macworld San Francisco in January. Some of them may be labeled wrong, but we tried (really).
The tournament consisted of four rounds. Almost eighty people started out playing single five-player games in the first round, with two players advancing from each game. Groups of five first-round winners played three games together in the second round; the player with the highest cumulative score advanced to the third round. The third round was played like the second, with one group of five players and one group of four.
The fourth and final round was three head-to-head games between the two winners of the two third round games, Shadow and Cybernator.
Following the fourth round, Cybernator (the winner) and Shadow played Jason (Habete Quiddam), Alex (Munch) and Doug (Fodder) from Bungie in a five-player game on Mars Needs Women. Jason would have won, of course, <grin> but decided to handicap himself by using the fist part of the time (even when better weapons were handy).
Also included, as an extra bonus and to unnecessairly increase download time, is the last Marathon match played at Macworld SF between Jason (SuperOperaBoy), Greg (WaxOn), two guys from Strata and somebody we’d never seen before.
There will be another tournament in Boston.
